From Tension to Trust: A 2-Day Anxiety Clinic for Horse & Rider

By registering for this clinic, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

1. Nature of the Clinic

This event is an educational clinic focused on anxiety awareness and nervous system regulation for riders.

The facilitator is a licensed therapist. However:

  • This clinic is not psychotherapy
  • No diagnosis or formal mental health treatment is provided
  • Participation does not establish a therapist–client relationship
  • This clinic does not replace individual therapy

This is an educational experience utilizing principles of nervous system regulation within the context of the rider’s relationship with their own horse.

2. Not Riding Instruction or Horse Training

This clinic is not a riding lesson or horse training program.

The facilitator is not functioning as a horse trainer or riding instructor during this event.

Participants are expected to:

  • Have an established relationship with their horse
  • Be able to safely handle, tack, and ride their horse independently
  • Use appropriate judgment regarding their horse’s readiness

Participants remain responsible for the training, behavior, and management of their own horse at all times.

3. Assumption of Risk

Equine activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Falls
  • Kicks or bites
  • Equipment failure
  • Unpredictable horse behavior
  • Environmental hazards

By participating, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with equine activities.

Participants understand that horses are prey animals and may react unpredictably, even under calm conditions.

All riders participate at their own risk.

4. Health & Emotional Responsibility

Participants are responsible for monitoring their own physical and emotional well-being during the clinic.

If at any time you feel unsafe, overwhelmed, or physically unwell, you agree to notify the facilitator and pause participation.

This clinic is not appropriate for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crisis, active suicidal ideation, or conditions requiring intensive mental health care.

5. Payment & Cancellation Policy

Full payment is required to reserve your spot.

Due to limited space and the individualized nature of Day 2 sessions:

  • Cancellations made 14 days prior to the event will receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations made within 5 days of the event are non-refundable.
  • Spots may be transferred to another rider with prior approval.

If the event must be canceled due to weather, illness, or unforeseen circumstances, participants will receive either a full refund or the option to transfer to a rescheduled date.

6. Safety Requirements

Participants agree to:

  • Wear appropriate riding attire and footwear
  • Wear a helmet during mounted work
  • Follow barn rules and facilitator instructions
  • Treat other participants and horses respectfully

The facilitator reserves the right to dismiss any participant who engages in unsafe behavior without refund.

7. Media Release

Photographs or videos may be taken during the clinic for promotional purposes.

By attending, you consent to the use of images unless you notify the facilitator in writing prior to the event.

8. Agreement

By registering, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these terms
  • You voluntarily agree to participate
  • You accept full responsibility for yourself and your horse
  • You understand the educational (non-therapy, non-training) nature of this event

Wisconsin Equine Activity Liability Law

Because this is an equine event, it falls under Wisconsin’s Equine Activities Liability Law.
Wisconsin Statute § 895.481 (Equine Activities Liability Law)

If you are participating with your horse, you must sign the liability waiver with Geitner’s Homestead Equine and RV Campground in order to participate in this clinic.
