About the Author

As a human, Carissa has over 13 years of mental health practice under her belt. During this time, Carissa has enjoyed creating a mental health practice that specializes in rural health, agriculture, and thinking outside of the box to help people tackle their symptoms of depression and anxiety. One of the things that draws Carissa to therapy is the neuroscience behind mental health. Always wanting to know how things work, Carissa helps break down the stigma of mental health by helping her clients understand why their brain is doing what it is when their depression and anxiety are spiking.

It is her passion for neuroscience and plants that lead her to write “Growing your Mental Health: Harnessing the Power of Plants for Emotional Well-Being.” This short read is full of helping skills and tricks not only to help you enjoy your plants but improve your mental health and well-being.

This book has been very informative and yet I found it easy to read and very enjoyable! It seems to be written for the lay-person and not experts in the field of mental health. I found all of the information well explained and there is even a dash of humor that keeps you engaged! Overall, I would recommend “Growing Your Mental Health” to anyone, and esspecially to people that love plants. It will add a new dimension and appreciation to your already growing hobby!
